November 12, 2018 17:24
On November 11, 2018, the city of Oxford held commemoration events dedicated to 100th anniversary of the 1918 Armistice.

Representatives of The Evgeniy Panfilov Ballet took part in the events and also performed in a joint production - “Still we rise”. Oxford City Council members impressed by Perm dancers wrote very warm words to Perm City Administration:

Bob Price, Alderman-designate; and Deputy Chair of Oxford International Links:

“The joint production by Pegasus Youth Theatre, Creac from Grenoble and the dancers from the Panilov Ballet was a fantastic success last night. The theatre was sold out and the reception for the performance was very enthusiastic. The young people from Perm were brilliant and outstanding. We are deeply grateful to you for facilitating their participation in the show.

Today's Remembrance Day ceremony to mark the 100th anniversary of the 1918 Armistice was very well attended,  and it was wonderful to have representatives from all our twin cities with us to lay wreaths.

With very best wishes to all at Perm City Council from Oxford City Council.”

The Lord Mayor of Oxford Councillor Colin Cook said:

“Whilst we observe Remembrance Sunday every year, this year holds a greater significance as it marks one hundred years since the end of World War One; the war that was meant to end all wars.  This year I am glad that representatives join us from our twin cities of Leiden, Bonn, Grenoble, Perm, our new twin Wroclaw in Poland, and our new friendship link with Padua in Italy taking part in this Service of Remembrance.  The pursuit of peace is constant, and we must continue to come together as a city and as a country to work for a more peaceful future for all.”
